Axalta Comes in From the East to Shine in the West at SEMA 2015
“Engineered for Speed” Exhibit Included Interactive Spray Booth, VIP Tent, Celebrities, a Commemorative Spray Gun and Hot Cars
Glen Mills, PA, November 17, 2015 – Axalta Coating Systems, a leading global manufacturer of liquid and powder coatings, continued to highlight the need for speed. Two weeks ago at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) tradeshow, Axalta proudly displayed award-winning cars including the winner of the Goodguys 2015 Classic Instruments Street Machine of the Year award – Sonny and Debbie Freeman’s 1967 Corvette which was built by Mike Goldman and Gil Losi’s 1956 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible – Ridler Award finalist, Goodguys Custom Rod of the Year and winner of the cover position on Axalta’s 2016 Custom Finishes Calendar.
The full Axalta experience demonstrated how fast-drying our coatings are in the Axalta Engineered for Speed outdoor area where Axalta teamed up with Global Finishing Solutions (GFS) to integrate REVO infrared technology into live collision repairs that were completed in just over 30 minutes in a fully functional spray booth. The Axalta outdoor area was the place to be at SEMA with cutting-edge paint demos, amazing artists creating custom masterpieces, or to actually suit up to spray Cromax® Pro waterborne basecoat and Cromax Premier LE UVA primer-surfacer in a GFS Ultra XD semi-downdraft spray booth. After painting, visitors were welcomed to speak with Axalta’s technical experts about the products or head to Axalta’s inside booth for autograph signing sessions, pinstriping demonstrations and much more.
“SEMA is an important show for Axalta,” said Matt Robertson, Axalta Refinish Marketing Director. “I know attendees found our activities, cars, celebrities, content and events to be both interesting and informative. Our interactive features and our custom-built, fully operational spray booth and mixing room along with our hospitality tent helped us do that and more.”
Axalta’s outdoor area also included its first-ever VIP tent. Among a number of head-turning vehicles was P.J. Burchett’s 1950 International Metro ice cream truck.
Axalta also unveiled a commemorative “We Paint Winners” Radiant Red SATAjet 5000 B spray gun during the show with the help of the crew from NBCSN’s newest hit series, MobsteelTM. Those among the first to order the spray gun may have the opportunity to purchase models autographed by four-time NASCAR® Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon or Mobsteel’s own Ron Coan, known for his gritty, old-school Detroit-steel creations and iconic black MobSteel Lincolns.
